Which Under Floor Safe?

Churchill Underfloor Safes Store

Why buy an Under Floor safe?

1) Out of sight out of mind - by burying the safe underground you are ensuring that the safe is harder to locate
2) A safe underground is extra secure as the safe body and access to the door (lid) is protected by concrete
3) The unique Churchill collapsible plastic neck adds to security by recessing the vital locking lid and avoids damage to the vital parts of the safe if the safe is attacked. The plastic neck can be replaced if damaged when attacked at a small cost.
4) Churchill underfloor safes are independently tested to comply with UK Insurance Industry standards for security storage of cash and valuables

What lock should I select for an Under Floor safe?

Churchill are probably the only manufacturer of under floor safes that offer a choice of 3 variations of lock. The three options are:

1) Churchill High security double bitted key lock - our most popular lock

Advantages - robust, reliable, secure. Extra keys can be ordered if required.

Disadvantages - If key is stolen the complete locking lid would need to be replaced. Keys need to be hidden.

2) Churchill High security mechanical dial 3 wheel combination lock

Advantages - robust, reliable, re-programmable, no keys to lose

Disadvantages - Difficult to use because the locking mechanism is recessed between 150-240mm below ground and one needs to be very accurate when using the dial. A torch may need to be used and good eyesight is essential.

3) Churchill High security electronic digital lock

Advantages - Secure, easy to use, re-programmable, no keys to lose

Disadvantages - Batteries will need changing every 6-12 months depending on use - damp conditions or condensation may damage electronics

Where should I position my Under Floor safe?

Although Underfloor safes are buried underground it is important to note the following before installation:

1) Dampness will damage the body unless there is a damproof membrane fitted below or around the safe

2) Although Churchill underfloor safes do have a a water resistant seal around the door (Lid) they are not fully resistant to water damage and penetration if submerged. So check basements for any history of flooding before installation

3) Churchill underfloor safes can be installed below a concrete floor, in a timber floor with a cavity or onto a floor if fully encased in reinforced concrete
